5 Little Chicks : Lift the flaps to find the chicks

By Lily Murray & illustrated by Holly Surplice

The Easter Bunny visited us last weekend & little brother found a copy of this book while egg hunting in our garden!

This lift-the-flap Easter book is based on the nursery rhyme ‘Five Little Ducks’, which lots of young children will recognise. Little brother normally sings it while playing with his ducks in the bath so he enjoyed listening to us reading the book aloud and joined in with the parts he knew.

The book is about a chicken family who go on a walk in the countryside.

Five little chicks went out one day
Over the hills and far away.

Mamma Hen shows her chicks a flowery meadow, a bluebell wood, a field of lambs and the farmyard. The colourful and lively illustrations show lots of animals with their babies.

There are lots of things to see and explore and one by one the little chicks disappear. Little children will enjoy singing along, naming the animals, counting the chicks and lifting the flaps to help Mamma Hen find all her babies.

Little Brother score: 5/5
