The Station Cat: A Story of Kindness and Hope

We spotted this colour-filled book somewhere on social media and wanted our own copy. Baby brother is obsessed with our neighbours’ cheeky kittens who sit on our shed roof each morning so we knew he’d love this cat picture book. We love picture books in our house but this is one of those books that even adults would enjoy. The illustrations really are amazing but I’ll keep my review a bit vague as I want you to enjoy the story and illustrations without revealing too much!

The book is set in a gloomy, dark train station full of sad-looking passengers in dark clothes. Then one day, a lost kitten appears. She is weak and lonely and searching for a home.

Over time, people at the station notice the kind cat with the bright green eyes and colourful fur. She greets the travellers who were feeling just as lonely and sad as she was. They tell her their stories and share their worries and she gives them a reason to smile and hope.

The book starts off with dull pages of black, grey and white images but gradually as the story progresses, more and more colours appear as the little cat works her magic and brings hope and happiness to the lives of the passengers she meets at the station.
